OK so I have good news and bad news. First, the good news… I managed to link my domain name, www.geekin6weeks.com, with my wordpress blog.
Bad news? Once you get to the website, the url in the address still appears as “geekin6weeks.wordpress.com.”
I feel incredibly jipped. First off, I discovered that in addition to purchasing the doman from GoDaddy, I have to pay an additional 10 bucks just to link it to my wordpress blog. Anyway, I don’t feel TOO bad because well, I think it’d be great to have site that doesn’t have the “dot-wordpress-dot-com” part in the address bar… so I just pay the extra 10 bucks because at this point, I already had purchased my domain and didn’t know what else to do with it (and let’s be real, even if I had another idea for a site, I wouldn’t have been able to design it… at least not this early in my 6-week “Tech 101″ session. )
So lesson learned? Use Google and make sure you know what you’re getting into when you buy a domain name. :-/
